September 29, 1999 - Morning session
- Why doesn't my Java applet work? I would elaborate, but some angry readers have told me that I write too much here, and I should put these rants in Riso's Ramblings, so I'll shut up now.
- Did you know that the Sun is rising later these days? How do I know? I videotape it. Yeah, that's it. I videotape it!

September 21, 1999 - Morning session

  Hmmm. This page loaded awfully quickly....
- Why is it so late so soon? I have barely done anything, and now I will get four hours of sleep if I am lucky. I had planned on writing all the music for David's Album tonight, but now I don't think I will have time. Oh, well. I haven't even written a Java applet to automatically update the date for me (it is important that I let everyone know whose Feast day it is, even if no one cares. Or maybe because no one cares.), but that is on my short list of things to do. I did install that Intel Video Phone software today, and that was on my short list, so I guess I do do those things occasionally. I was planning on putting my lists of things to do here on the Internet, but I wasn't sure why I should tell all of you what I am doing. On the other hand, why else do I have a web site?

- By the by the way, the Mary whose birthday was September 8 is the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Jesus, and, as detailed in the Gospel of John, Chapter 19, verses 25 through 27, Mother of us all.
  Now do you see why I thought it was interesting that she is a Virgo? No, I didn't think so. If any of you can understand me, please, let me know.
- By the by the by the way, the e-mail link in the previous paragraph referenced the latest of my "billions and billions" of e-mail addresses, i.e., tar24@cornell.edu. This is courtesy of my alma mater, Cornell University, and, no, Dennis, it's not Cornell College . Cornell University says I can keep this e-mail address for life, but they assume that the university will outlive me. I know better. ;-)
- Since I am over-explaining, does anyone not know about "emot-icons," such as, ";-)"? (How was my punctuation, Tom? (Although, why I ask a Social Studies teacher, I'll never know (and what does "M.A.C.O.S." stand for, anyway?).)) (Well, he's related to an English teacher, I think.) (Oh, yeah? Well, what does my Dad do for a living, huhn? And I can beat you at "Square Mile" any day of the week!)
  They are Internet-clever ways of expressing emotions. ";)" or ";-)" are supposed to look like winking, smiling faces, tilted on their sides, expressing irony or amusement. There are whole books of them, and probably Usenet groups devoted to them. I usually only use ";-)", a winking smiley-face with a nose, although I might mess with the mouth or skip the nose sometimes. ;-(
- Comé mai my simple text editor (VIM) knows to put two spaces after periods at the end of sentences, but globally-used Internet browsers like Netscape Communicator and Internet Explorer don't? Protest the dumbing down of the Internet! Let's build a Shanty-town by the Administration offices!
- Speaking of languages other than American (I know enough not to call the language in which I write English), if anyone would like versions of these pages in other languages, let me know. I have been inspired by the Vatican web site to have multilingual versions of my web pages. Since I have lots of words with no meanings, this should not take too much effort!
- And, if anyone understands all of this session, you are either drunk, Randy, or both.

  I don't know. I was really drunk at the time.
- Don't worry. I will correct my Italian accents when I can get to Christina's room, where my Italian-English Dictionary is. In fatto, I will erase all the bad Italiano, and no one will be the wiser, since no one ever looks at this web site. Cool!
- And, now I will get two hours sleep if I am lucky! And I am not often lucky, except when it comes to my family (who are all intelligently asleep now, and have been for many hours). Oh, well. I am just waiting for The Cold Light of Morning.

September 3, 1999 - Morning session
- Wow, has it been that long? And all I have to offer is a link on the Other Web Sites page to a very cool site of NASA's. The JTrack applet lets you see where all the satellites are in orbit, even in an interactive 3-dimensional map. Or you can check when a particular satellite, like MIR or the Hubble Space Telescope, will be passing over your house next. Apparently, the International Space Station is visible without binoculars or a telescope if you know where and when to look, especially if the sun is shining on it. Check it out. It's fun.
